How creativity and aromatherapy changed my life

Ever since I was young, I’ve always turned to crafting whenever life felt bored/overwhelming. Some friends go to shoppings and video games — but for me, sitting down with my hands busy and my mind drifting into a creative world has always been my escape. Just like reading a good book, crafting lets me slip out of reality for a little while. Time went by so quickly, and when I finished, I felt really accomplished after all the focus and effort I put in.

For years, it was simply my quiet ritual. Something I did for me, not for anyone else. I never imagined selling anything I made. It was just my way of finding peace in the middle of everyday chaos.

But life has a funny way of nudging us into new chapters.

When my daughter was a toddler, she was constantly getting sick. Anyone living in Australia knows the struggle — long waits at bulk‑billing clinics, GPs who sometimes just hand you Panadol and send you home, and that helpless feeling when your child is unwell and you’re trying to find answers. I started searching for natural ways to support her health at home, not as a replacement for medical care, but as something gentle and comforting I could do while waiting for appointments or recovering from yet another cold.

That’s when I stumbled into the world of essential oils.

At first, I was just curious. But the more I learned, the more fascinated I became. Essential oils weren’t just pretty scents — they became part of my emergency toolkit for sudden sniffles, restless nights, and stressful days. They not only helped my kids, but also helped me too. I found myself calmer, more balanced, and more connected to that creative part of myself I had always relied on.

And then a thought hit me:
What if I could make products that not only helped my own family, but could help others too?

So I started small — rubbing balms, lip balms, little blends for myself. But as every DIY crafter knows, suppliers often sell ingredients in huge bulk amounts. I’d buy a big block of shea butter just to use a few grams for a lip balm. I’d end up with extra oils, extra butters, extra everything.

That’s when the idea clicked.

If I needed small quantities of raw materials for my handmade creations, surely other people did too. Not everyone wants to buy a kilo of shea butter just to make one balm. Not everyone wants to commit to bulk ingredients when they’re just experimenting or learning.

So my first idea for my online shop wasn’t actually to sell finished products — it was to sell raw materials in small, affordable quantities. To make crafting more accessible. To help other makers, beginners, and curious souls explore natural personal care without the overwhelm of bulk buying.
