Natural Preservatives
Preservatives prevent the growth of microbes that would otherwise live in your cosmetic preparations, multiply, and cause all kinds of health problems.
Nature-derived” means that the product started out from something found in nature and was then processed further into the end product
Products with no water don't need a preservative; however, if you suppose they'll come in contact with water during use, then a preservative will still be necessary.
For examples, oils mixtures do not require a preservative as there's no chance bacteria are going to grow in them without water. From a stability point of view, oils still need something able to preserve their good qualities over time.
But the charm of making our own homemade cosmetics is that we have a choice to use what we want and that is natural preservatives. Those are much better for our health than the preservatives widely used in commercial cosmetics.
