A Busy Mum's Simple Guide to Skincare Ingredients
Posted by Angel H on
As busy mums, we often don't have time to study long ingredient lists. When shopping for skincare, a simple rule is to look at the first few ingredients. If you see ingredients like Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, or Coconut Oil near the top, it's usually a good sign that the product focuses on hydration and nourishment.
For teenage daughters, like my own, I think it's important not to let them choose skincare products based only on what they see on social media. Many products promoted online may look trendy, but they are not always suitable for young teenage skin. Some products are designed for mature skin and can contain strong anti-ageing, exfoliating, or peeling ingredients that are unnecessary and may even irritate younger skin.
When it comes to teen skincare, less is often more. Choosing gentle, low-fragrance products made for sensitive skin is usually the best approach. Ingredients such as Aloe Vera and Glycerin can help keep skin hydrated and comfortable without being too heavy or harsh. For most teenagers, a simple routine of a gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and daily sunscreen is all they really need.
For mums over 40, skin often becomes drier and may develop fine lines and pigmentation. Look for ingredients such as Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Oil for hydration. If pigmentation and ageing are concerns, ingredients like Niacinamide and Vitamin C can be helpful additions.
Aloe Vera Gel is a great everyday product because it is lightweight, soothing, and hydrating. It absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling refreshed, making it suitable for both teenagers and adults.
A nourishing cream containing Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Glycerin can provide deeper moisture and help keep skin soft, smooth, and comfortable throughout the day.
At the end of the day, skincare does not need to be complicated. Choose products with simple, recognizable ingredients, avoid excessive fragrance, and always wear sunscreen. Consistency is more important than having a shelf full of products. 😊
