Glyceryl Caprylate

Glyceryl Caprylate is a naturally derived, plant-based ingredient that helps protect skincare products against bacteria and yeast while supporting a self-preserving formula. Use Level: 0.3–1% General Information: Glyceryl Caprylate is an effective, naturally derived preservative that helps protect skincare products against bacteria and yeast. It works well in formulations with a pH of 4.5-7, is compatible with emulsions, surfactants, and alcohol-based products, and also provides moisturising and skin-conditioning benefits.

Caution: In some formulation types, especially leave-on balms or face masks that are occlusive in nature, this ingredient at the higher level can be quite irritating to the skin and leave it flushed red. In those formulations it is wise to stick to 0.5% or less and to check whether, at this level, the ingredient is still providing adequate preservation.
